19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden championship for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks the player's first title since the Italian tournament and first on a hard court from March of that year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one different tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters together, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," said tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my child her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, including in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had prompted observers to doubt if his ability to play at the highest level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, striving to advance forward and perform positively, backed up by an enhanced service.

The champion recovered from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

Both players exchanged breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

Moutet saved 4 early chances in a tight final set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, the winner secured the title with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
